What does a Doula do?
A doula is there to support YOU, however that may look for you and your family.
Birth doulas provide individualized care that shows women ways to have a safe, joyful, and empowering birth experience. Offering guidance and education during the prenatal period, continuous in-person support during labor & delivery, and in the first few hours after birth.
Daytime postpartum doulas assist with caring for the newborn while parents get some much needed rest/sleep, take care of light household tasks, assist w/ newborn basics like bathing/feeding/changing, meal prep, running errands, organizing of baby’s things/nursery, and provide lactation(or other feeding) support to help ease the transition into parenthood.
Overnight postpartum doulas take care of baby throughout the night so that you can get some much needed sleep while your baby is in experienced hands. For the breastfeeding, pumping, or formula feeding parent. I can be super flexible with you and what you are wanting to do.
This is also super helpful for new parents to learn some techniques for soothing baby, and establishing healthy sleep habits.
Doulas do not provide medical care but work in collaboration with healthcare providers to ensure that their client’s wishes are respected and their birthing experience is as positive as possible. From helping with pain management techniques during labor, to offering postpartum care and breastfeeding support, doulas play a crucial role in promoting a sense of confidence and well-being for families as they welcome their new addition.
